A worker bee is grooming her mouth parts including the proboscis, a long, slender, hairy tongue that acts as a straw to carry the liquid food (nectar, honey and water). After feeding, the proboscis is drawn up and folded behind the head. The rows of hairs on her foot joints act like a brush as she grasps her proboscis by both forelegs and gives it a good polish.
